Energy Controversies - a new University of Aberdeen lecture series which aims to tackle the key challenges and raise debate on the main issues facing the energy sector now and in the future

Spearheaded by Professor Ben Kneller from the University’s Department of Geology & Petroleum Geology, the series has been created with the intention of raising public awareness and stimulating discussion on a variety of inter-related, often contentious issues surrounding global energy use.

The series consists of seven public lectures and a discussion panel event, bringing together leading figures from the oil and gas industry alongside academics and experts from all areas of the energy sector. The lectures will take place in King’s College Conference Centre.

Key topics to be featured include the exhaustion of fossil fuel reserves, and the decline of fossil fuels as an energy source, the impact of a changing political climate on the sector and the concern surrounding the environmental impact of our continued use of fossil fuels.

"Energy Controversies" aims to extend the traditional notion of a public lecture series into one that creates a community of interested/concerned individuals who will collectively share and discuss, both before and after, the lecture topics. Please make full use of this website to engage with each other.
